Chapter 12 Summary
At two a.m., John stands on his balcony in Manhattan, drinking scotch. He looks down towards the World Trade Center, where in 1993 terrorists planted a bomb in the parking lot of the North Tower. He walks back into his apartment, sits down and watches a videotape documentary about the TWA crash made by a conspiracy theory group, which attempts to rebut the explanation of an electrical malfunction. The tape also contains the CIA's animated footage showing how the eyewitnesses mistook the rising, burning fuselage after the explosion for a streak of light rising from the ocean before the explosion. Several eyewitnesses then refute the CIA's animation, saying that it looks nothing like what they saw. While John watches the videotape, Kate walks out from the bedroom and watches it with him.
