Chapter 11 Summary

John and Kate are driving back towards home. As Kate begins to fall asleep, John asks her to explain the seven theories of why the plane crashed. The first theory is friendly fire from military training exercises. An electromagnetic field that engulfed the plane is the second theory. Third, a missile may have launched from a foreign submarine. A meteorite or space junk is fourth, and a methane gas bubble is the fifth theory. The sixth idea is a plasma death ray, and the final theory is that the cargo door blew open and started a chain of events that led to the explosion. Kate explains that the remaining theory - a terrorist attack - is in a category by itself. Kate falls asleep, and John thinks about everything he has seen and heard. He realizes that it is very dangerous for him...
