Chapter 4 Summary
Kate and John drive to the deserted beach area where Jill Winslow and Bud Mitchell videotaped the crash. Kate tells John that police reports indicate that on the night of the crash, a police officer drove past a Ford Explorer as he made his way to the beach near the crash site. Kate explains that the police officer found a beach blanket, an empty wine bottle, glasses and a corkscrew. John theorizes that the two people were not married and that they were eyewitnesses to the crash. He then asks Jill why these two people are important, given that there were several hundred other witnesses. Kate informs him that the police officer also found a lens caps to a video camera.
