Chapter 3 Summary
People gather under a tent at the memorial service for the 230 people who died on Flight 800. A chaplain and several other people speak, and Kate cries. When the service ends, the victim's families walk to the ocean's edge and light a candle for each victim. Kate sees a couple she knows and leaves John to go talk to them. FBI Special Agent Liam Griffith walks up to Corey. The two men have a brief, hostile conversation in which Griffith warns John not to go digging into the crash. Griffith walks away. Kate walks back over to Corey and asks him what he and Griffith were talking about. Corey says he can't tell her but then discloses that Griffith told him that Kate was never satisfied with the government's official explanation for the crash.
