Chapters 65-71 Summary

Billy Cleever, the sixth grader Dave bit earlier in the day, is on his way home from school with his friends when they see Dave and Jamie up ahead. Billy's friends goad him into getting Dave back for the earlier incident. Billy jumps Jamie in the park, knocking him down, then goes after Dave. Dave climbs a fence out of Billy's reach. When Billy cannot get to Dave, he turns back to Jamie and begins beating him. Dave pulls down his pants and throws feces at the boys. The boys run home, but not before Billy promises to go get his dad's gun and get rid of Dave once and for all. Lynn cleans up Jamie's injuries and asks what happened. Both Dave and Jamie tell her an honest account of the fight. That night, while the boys are playing outside...
