Chapters 18-22 Summary
Brad Gordon has a habit of going to the girls' soccer practices at the local middle school in order to relax. Brad pretends to be a father or uncle, keeping people from talking to him by fiddling with his cell phone or PDA. One day a girl, claiming to be eighteen, sits next to him in the stands and starts a conversation. Before he knows it, Brad finds himself leaving with the girl. Across town, the director of Long Beach Memorial's genetics lab calls Roberts and complains that the morgue's original tox tests were negative, but that her tests on the tissues taken at the cemetery show Mr. Weller was intoxicated at the time of his death and had high levels of ethacrynic acid, a diuretic.
