Chapters 7-10 Summary
Alex Burnet returns home to tell her father that the judge ruled against them. The judge ruled that Frank Burnet has no right to his tissues once they leave his body and therefore the university could do anything with his cells that they want. However, Alex promises that she intends to begin the appeal process. A few days later, Frank, Alex, and her partners meet with the lawyers from the university. The meeting is unproductive. When all the lawyers leave, Frank has a conversation with a young man who brought sandwiches to the meeting. The young man tells Frank that BioGen in effect owns his cells and he cannot legally sell them to anyone. However, the young man tells Frank there are ways around this and offers him one hundred million dollars to sell the cells to the people he represents...
