Chapters 36-40 Summary

Stone gets a key to the apartment across the way from where the client's wife meets to conduct her affair. Stone checks the apartment where Teddy O'Bannion can stay and then checks the empty apartment across the hall. While checking things out, Stone hears a woman enter the apartment and he hides in the bedroom. The woman enters and cleans up, then lays down to sleep. Stone waits until the woman is silent and then escapes.

Bill calls Stone and tells him the woman is going to meet her lover Friday evening. Stone is pleased, as the work will not interfere with his date with Cary on Saturday.
