Chapters 26-30 Summary
Stone heads home and is met by his tenant, Dr. Feldstein, with his notice to move. Stone is at a loss; his bills are piling up and the income is needed. Heading inside, Stone changes into work clothes and starts varnishing shelves, thinking about the events surrounding the case. Stone does not like the way things are going and knows he needs to make a choice. Dino arrives and asks Stone what he is going to do. Stone tells his partner that he does not know, but that he knows Dino is not behind whatever happens.
In chapter twenty-seven, Stone goes to work and is told Lieutenant Leary wants to see him. Leary tells Stone that the results of his physical show that his knee will never heal properly, and he is relieved of duty with full medical. Stone is stunned...
