This blow-up dolphin is a symbol of Andrew’s desire to scare Lindsey. Lindsey sees this dolphin, a favorite toy of Sophie’s, floating in the ocean and believes that perhaps Sophie went out alone and drowned. It turned out that Andrew had taken Sophie to get a drink. Lindsey believed he set up the scene intentionally to scare her and to make her realize that he could take Sophie from her if he wanted to do so.
