Family Ties
Never Fall Down provides several examples of the types of family ties that Arn experiences during his adolescence. In the beginning, his life is already veered away from a traditional family format as a result of an accident that killed his father. When his mother realized that she could not continue to run the opera house that was their living on her own, she was forced to leave Battambang to find work elsewhere. As such, Arn, his brother and three sisters were left in the care of their aunt.
