Summary

In Chapter 27, it was mid-October and it snowed unexpectedly after months of high temperatures, catching Kate off-guard because she had only packed summer clothes. Bill gave her a pair of snow boots belonging to Inez but Kate chose not to mention that she knew her. A tourist couple asked Kate for directions and she confidently told them something inaccurate because she was pleased they thought she knew where she was going. Both Inez and Bill invited her to separate Halloween parties. Kate ignored Inez and prepared to meet Bill in the expensive high heels given to her by Inez.
