Summary
In Chapter 21, Bill sat onstage at his reading and noticed Kate in the audience. He texted her from the stage and asked her to save him. During the question and answer session after the reading, Bill embarrassed an over-earnest and verbose grad student and convinced another questioner to sing a Blondie song. Afterwards, he found Kate and asked her to leave and get a drink with him.
Chapter 22 continues the night from Kate’s perspective. Bill and Kate had a drink in a nearby bar where Bill bumped into an associate who mistook Kate for Bill’s daughter before Bill corrected him. Bill asked Kate her opinion on strip clubs and suggested they leave a bar to go to a strip club instead. Kate agreed.
