Summary
After doctors confirm that Donald has polio, Cantor and Marcia canoe to the island that night to confer. Cantor tells Marcia that he fears that he may have somehow carried polio and given it to Donald, for Cantor was the one spending a lot of time with Donald while giving him diving lessons. Marcia assures Cantor that Donald’s illness is not Cantor’s fault. Cantor privately feels that he must be the cause of the polio because he is the most recent newcomer to the camp. The next morning, Bill Blomback informs the campers that Donald Kaplow was diagnosed with polio. He says that he will call the campers’ parents to inform them as well.
