Summary

Venus tries to reach Tyson again and he finally calls her back. They schedule a lunch date for later in the day. At their lunch, she announces her intentions to work for his company. He propositions Venus, but she rebuffs his advances and “My nervousness seemed to thrill him” (210).

Kandi prepares for a date with Tyson. When they meet, he tries to get into her apartment, but she tells him that she wants to go out instead. Their dinner conversation veers toward Venus and how she wants to work at Tyson’s company in the future. Kandi gets compliments from other women at the restaurant, but she feels empty inside.
