Part 4, Chapters 54 - 57 Summary

In Chapter 54, Jessica wakes up when the car stops in the parking lot of a motel in Louisiana. Although David tells her that Teacake is fine, Jessica knows he is dead. David brings the cat's body into the room and hides him in the closet. Jessica suddenly realizes she feels strange because David put something in her drink. She asks him to promise not to give Kira anything. Jessica passes out. When she wakes, something heavy lands on her and she sees Teacake's green eyes looking at her. She screams. David tries to explain to her that he gave Teacake some of his blood, causing the cat to be immortal. Jessica asks if David wants to perform the ritual on her and Kira.

David hands her four capsules, which he says are sleeping pills, and asks her to take...
