Part 4, Chapters 38 - 41 Summary

In Chapter 38, Mahmoud has received a letter from Khaldun. He is told to speak to Dawit again about his transgressions.

In Chapter 39, Alexis confirms Jessica's suspicion that the blood is miracle blood. She has found that even massively diluted amounts of the blood fight disease. Although Alexis believes it is not ethically responsible for her to do so, she agrees not to tell anyone about the blood when Jessica tells her that it is David's.

In Chapter 40, Alexis goes home, pours herself a glass of wine and goes to stand on her balcony. As she tries to relax, she hears, and then feels, a sharp crack on the back of her head.
