Part 2, Chapters 22 - 25 Summary
In Chapter 22, Dawit is at Lowell Mason Farm where an elderly black lady is trying to nurse him back to health after having been beaten with 100 lashes with a cowhide whip. The woman applies balm to David's back. He passes out from the pain. He wakes in a storeroom and discovers that his wounds are healed. The woman enters. She promises to keep him hidden as long as she can so no one will see his miraculous healing. She also tells him about a deep, infected cut on her hand that healed because she had gotten his blood in it while tending his wounds. She tells Dawit that she had prayed for him to come because she has a great grandson with a foot injury. She wants to take some of Dawit's blood to see if it will help...
