Part 1, Chapters 6 - 11 Summary

In Chapter 6, Alexis tries to convince Jessica to go ahead with her plans to write the book despite David's discouragement. During a lunch meeting, Peter tells Jessica that an editor has already promised a $40,000 advance for their book. The deadline for the book is four months. Jessica appreciates Peter's encouragement, but doesn't take the opportunity to tell him so.

In Chapter 7, Dawit realizes that a Searcher has found him. He finds his old clarinet case while he is searching his house for wire taps. He finds a good reed and plays along with "Coronet Chop Suey." He remembers hearing Louis Armstrong, also called Satchmo, playing before he was famous. He is Seth "Spider" Tillis, who played with The Jazz Brigade. As he thinks about the music, he remembers Rosalie and the way that he killed her. He drops his...
