Summary
In Chapter 1, Tracy Crosswhite, a homicide detective, filled her partner, Vic “Faz” Fazzio in on the latest case their department had received. Nicole Hansen, a dancer, had been found dead in a cheap hotel. She was hog-tied in such a way that she strangled herself when she straightened her cramped legs. Kinsington “Kins” Rowe, another homicide detective, brought Tracy coffee. He told her that two hunters had found the remains of a body near Cedar Grove.
Chapter 2 is set in 1993 when Tracy and her younger sister Sarah were tied for the championship in a state shooting contest. Tracy missed a target in the final round of competition.
