New York City is the city to which Che and his family move at the beginning of the novel.

Tompkins Square Park

Tompkins Square Park is the park that is central to the New York neighborhood where Che and his family lives. Che considers it his and Sojourner’s place because it is where they meet the first time outside the gym.

The Boxing Gym

The boxing gym is the place to which Che goes to work off his frustration by working out. It is also at this gym where he meets Sojourner for the first time.
