Highway Herald
The Highway Herald was Ginsburg's elementary school newspaper. Even as a young student, Ginsburg wrote often for the paper. Though her peers mostly submitted human interest pieces, Ginsburg always wrote articles or editorials discussing complex political matters. The authors present one such editorial in Part One. The piece illustrates Ginsburg's early interest in advocating for the underdog, and promoting world peace and the brotherhood of mankind.
Cornell University
Shortly after her mother's death, Ginsburg left home for Cornell University where she studied government. She also met and worked under Vladimir Nabokov and Robert E. Cushman while studying here. Both men were significant literary and legal influences in Ginsburg's life. Not long into her studies at Cornell, Ginsburg met Marty, who later became her lifelong partner.
