Summary
In “Thursday,” the narrator wakes up happy, because in the middle of the night, her husband touched her shoulder and told her he loved her three times (115). Their breathing was synchronized, too, which surprised and delighted her.
Thursday is a yellow day and “starts joyfully” (116). The narrator is also happy to find her “notebook of scientific vocabulary,” which she thought she had lost (118).
Throughout her morning at school, the narrator smiles and moves “more spryly than usual” (119). However, she is careful to control her responses to her husband. She pretended not to hear him talking to her at the house, and ignores his first two calls at school.
