Summary
In Chapter 16, titled “The Hidden,” Karen takes Franklin and Sandy to a painting titled “Temptation of the Magdalene” by Jacob Jordaenes. Something about Anka on the day she died reminded her of this painting and Karen wants to examine it for any clues. After a few minutes of poring over the painting, Sandy notices an obscured face of a demon in the background. Karen then ‘enters’ the painting to question the demon. Karen tells the demon that a friend of hers was killed. Karen claims to have seen a dark figure standing behind Anka the morning of her death and wonders if it could possibly be a demon like the one in the painting.
