Buckhorn Cove
Buckhorn Cove is the place where Turtle’s mother, Helena, went abalone diving alone. Martin claims that Helena never came home from that diving trip. He went to look for her and found her boat, but she was gone. Buckhorn Cove is also the place whereTurtle and her grandfather go to look for crab and mussels. It is when Turtle takes off her pants to dive for a crab that her grandfather sees the bruises from the beating that Martin gave her. It is also at Buckhorn Cove where Turtle and Jacob are swept out to sea and survive for more than a full day on an island with Turtle badly injured before they can return to land.
