Summary
In Chapter 3, Caroline rejoins Father outside. He is not wearing handcuffs but has new jeans and has gotten a haircut. They get in a car, and Caroline knows they are driving away from the forest. Father seems to have an idea of where they are going, and Caroline is just relieved to be together. Caroline sees horses when they arrive at the farm. Jean and Mr. Harris are waiting for them. They have arranged for Father to work on this farm, owned by Mr. Walters. The job includes a house which has two bedrooms and is furnished with everything they need.
