Book V, Sky Summary

Musashi travels some distance ahead of Otsu, allowing Matahachi to kidnap her and get away. Jo, injured, manages to follow and Musashi soon realizes they are missing and joins chase. He encounters a martial arts student named Gonnosuke who helps Musashi search and puts him on the apparent path to intercept Matahachi and Otsu. Musashi learns that Jo is likely accompanied by a man named Daizo who is often anxious to help underdogs find justice. Gonnosuke loses a fight to Musashi when they first encounter each other and challenges him to a rematch. This time, Musashi is almost killed by Gonnosuke's lance and both consider that they lost the match but learned a valuable lesson about martial arts.
