Chapter 40 Summary
Peter Morris calls Regan from a bar. He is well past being drunk or rational. He tells Regan this is her last chance to save herself and that he spent weeks trying to get her to listen to him. He reveals he waited for her outside Shields's seminar, and that if Regan had just taken a minute to hear him out, she could have stopped it. But he doesn't specify exactly what she could have stopped. He also reveals Aiden's assistant had told him where Regan would be that night.
Morris demands the grant money and says he wants it in cash by the following day or someone will get hurt. When the line goes dead, Wincott, who jumped on his cell phone the minute he'd realized who was on the phone, turns to Regan triumphantly. They managed to trace the call.
