Chapter 36 Summary
Regan asks Alec to spend the night but he refuses, citing the risk to her reputation. As he dresses, he tells Regan it can never happen again. She agrees and Alec is surprised to find himself disappointed she capitulated so quickly. After he leaves, Regan collapses upon her bed in tears. She finally admits to herself she loves him.
Chapter 36 Analysis
Alec's disappointment in Regan's lack of fight puts him one step closer to admitting what Regan does immediately thereafter. He loves her but isn't ready to accept it just yet. Regan, on the other hand, accepts it and all the heartbreak she expects will come with it.
