Chapter 35 Summary

Afterwards, both Alec and Regan are stunned by the heights of pleasure they reached with each other. Alec gets up to use the bathroom and Regan assumes he is leaving. She is devastated to think what just happened was only about lust to Alec. Instead of leaving, Alec returns to her bed and tells her it was every bit as good as his fantasy. She teases him and tells him it was just so-so. A look of insecurity crosses his face and she rushes to assure him it was wonderful for her as well.

Chapter 35 Analysis

To this point, Regan has only seen Alec in his 'cop' role. She sees him as the protector of the weak, prosecutor of the guilty. Therefore, it's quite a shock for her to realize insecurity can be found among his strong and arrogant ways.
