Chapter 34 Summary
One kiss turns to another, and neither Alec nor Regan want to stop there. Before they go on, Alec warns Regan that, as much as he wants her, he's leaving Chicago and nothing will convince him to stay. He says the last thing he wants or needs is to leave behind a mess.
Regan takes offense and coldly agrees that getting involved would complicate things. She moves into her bedroom and turns to tell him good night. Alec looks past her, at her king-sized bed, and decides things are already a mess anyway.
Chapter 34 Analysis
To Alec's credit, he doesn't simply take Regan straight to bed and damn the consequences. He gives her a chance to back out by warning that he's leaving Chicago regardless of what happens between them. Unfortunately, his poor choice of words puts a damper on the mood and...
