Chapter 28 Summary
Alec and Regan begin spending evenings together in Regan's suite. They take turns picking movies and poking fun at each other's choices. They also share childhood stories and discuss how differently they grew up. Alec is one of eight children in a close-knit, loving family. By contrast, Regan's father died when she was very young, and she usually said good night to her mother over the phone.
Alec accuses Regan of not trusting men and she admits she doesn't want to make her mother's mistakes. Alec tells her it's just a matter of finding the right person. He then describes his perfect woman, and she bears an uncanny resemblance to Regan. As he describes her, Alec leans in closer and closer to Regan, until she is certain he is about to kiss her for the first time. She closes her eyes in anticipation...
