Chapter 2 Summary
On her first morning home from a business trip, Regan awakes with a painful throbbing in her knee. She injured it months earlier, playing in a charity softball game, and her orthopedic surgeon has recommended surgery but Regan keeps putting it off.
'Home' for Regan is a suite at The Hamilton, a five-star hotel owned and operated by her family. She enjoys living there because her office is just downstairs, her gym just upstairs. In addition, she has known most of the staff all her life.
In her office, Regan fields calls from her best friends. Cordie mentions an unpleasant errand she ran for Sophie, but she refuses to give Regan the details until they meet for dinner later in the week.
Just minutes later, Regan takes a call from Sophie, who immediately asks for a favor. They agree to discuss it Friday...
