Summary
In this section of the novel, the narration shifts to focus on Amanda, who is feeling restless and dissatisfied in her job as events coordinator at the Haddington Senior Center. She is planning logistics for the next guest speaker at the Center’s lecture series. The speaker is an unsuccessful local author. Amanda receives a call from the author’s wife who informs Amanda that he died earlier that week.
