(Headlights)
Importance: The message of Headlights is encompassed by this final comment by Nené. In a story underlined by a severe feminist rage, Headlights takes place on the side of a highway where husbands come to leave their wives. There is a strong sense of male pitted against female in the story, as Felicity wishes for some "sisterly support" and the black mass of women fall upon the man in rage (3). By the end of the story, the last hopes of some sense of reconciliation between the two genders falls flat when Nené informs Felicity that the men are coming back for the man left behind, not the women. This realization concludes the story with a strong sense of unresolved tension between men and women, with men being painted in a negative image as the women drive away.
