Summary
In the section "Oh Ghetto My Love," Eduardo continues his journey in Poland. He meets with Madame Maroszek who he has been communicating with via letter. Eduardo initially contacts her after a friend tells him she is known for her work to help Jewish people uncover their family histories.
At their first lunch outing they share vodka and herring. Eduardo is surprised to discover the fish are still alive.
Afterwards, he and Madame Maroszek go for a walk. Eduardo considers telling her about his trips to the ghetto in Warsaw and to Block 11 at Auschwitz. He wants to tell her that he could feel nothing in either place. Instead of telling her, however, he gives her an envelope filled with photographs of his grandfather and family.
