Chapters 31 through 35 Summary

Miles wakes Harper to say that there's a message from the killer asking to meet "Erin." Miles has responded only to say that she'll be online at nine a.m. Shortly after Drewe leaves for work, the police execute a search warrant. Miles rushes out of the house through the tunnel, leaving behind a file of the Trojan horse with instructions of how Harper is to deliver it. Harper hopes that Miles will return, but he doesn't. Harper eventually returns to his office where he logs onto EROS as the system operator and sees the killer, logged on as "Maxwell" sends a message to Erin. The message reads, "The dry earth awaits the rain." Harper comes to the decision to finish what he and Miles began, logs on as Erin and replies, "I am the rain."
