Chapters 21 through 25 Summary
They stop first at Lenz's home then at the FBI safe house where the computer equipment is set up. The plan is for Lenz to carry on an online life as "Lilith" while an agent named Margie Ressler pretends to be Lilith in real life. Harper begins to explain chat terminology - that a "thread" is a topic of conversation to which anyone can post a comment and "lurking" is observing conversations without participating. He says that there can be anywhere from a few dozen to hundreds of rooms available at any give time, that some rooms were named by the EROS subscribers and some are named and maintained by the systems operators - "sysops." Lenz logs on and Harper steps out of the room to touch base with Drewe. Margie offers him pizza and a diet Coke, which he accepts...
