Summary

Chapter 45, “Cassie, 2017,” opens with Cassie’s request for an interview with Fabian being. Duke asks Cassie to talk and Cassie puts Duke off for work. Duke assures Cassie that he loves her, but Cassie is doubting their relationship. Cassie calls off the engagement.

Chapter 46, “Lore, 1986,” finds Lore at the bank. Oscar tells Lore that her husband came to see him and showed Oscar a picture from the wedding. Lore does not feel well and tries to explain to Oscar that she broke it off with Andres months ago. Oscar gives Lore the envelope Andres left for Lore with a note and key inside. Lore asks for Oscar’s discretion, and Oscar tells Lore to be careful.

In Chapter 47, “Cassie, 2017,” Duke packs some belongings and asks Cassie what she is going to do for Christmas. Cassie assures Duke that she will be fine...
