Summary

Part III, Chapter 32, “Lore, 1985 - 1986,” Lore stays late at work to talk to Andres because Fabian is at home. Lore also has a PO Box for Andres’ letters. When Lore goes back to Mexico City, she swaps out her rings on the plane. Lore and Andres get legally married. At home, Lore and Fabian discuss money. Lore starts to feel the “suffocating squeeze” (288) of living two lives.

In Chapter 33, “Cassie, 2017,” Cassie talks to Andrew after their father’s accident. Cassie and Duke go to visit. On the way, Cassie points out her old school and other details about where she grew up. When Cassie sees her father, she is struck by how “fragile” (292) he looks.
