Summary

In Chapter 23, Winter looks at Moon for confirmation. She knows what he wants from her. Moon says Icicle does believe that Scarlet is holding Hailstorm alive, though she points out that Scarlet could be lying. Icicle says she did not tell Winter because he is “worthless,” but Moon says she did not tell him because “she didn't want to be talked out of it” (223). Winter desperately wants Hailstorm back but feels killing is not right and seems skeptical that Scarlet would keep the bargain. Icicle crashes through a window and is gone.
