Summary

In Chapter 12, Moon says she cannot release Darkstalker. He argues the he did nothing so terrible that the NightWings would have run away in fear. He points out that everyone “might” do something terrible. She asks if she is destined to release him. He says he can see some futures in which she does and others in which she does not. He assures her she has the ability to choose her future. Moon wonders if the fall of Jade Mountain she has seen is what “would happen if she freed Darkstalker – or something that would happen if she didn't” (140). The next day, she joins the other dragonets in the music room. Moon cannot imagine Winter participating. At that moment, Kinkajou thinks the same think about Moon. As the drumming music builds and dragons dance, Moon realizes she can ignore all the individual thoughts...
