Chapters 3 and 4 Summary

The older kids try to entertain and distract the younger kids by serving them pizza and slushies. Dean has his second one-sentence conversation with Astrid. The kids wander over to the electronics department, where the TVs are picking up a signal since the minitabs and bigtabs are not. They see a news story about a volcanic eruption that has caused a megatsunami, which wiped out cities such as New York, Miami, Charleston and Boston along the beat coast. The eruption also caused a weather phenomenon across the Rockies, which is where Monument, the town where the characters live is.
