Part Four, Summer: Chapters 25-28 Summary
In Chapter 25, Lily confronts Adam, Willa and Tess, who coddle her after her ordeal. Tired of others walking around as if she would shatter, Lily angrily tells them all that despite what Jesse had done she is over it and they should be too. Adam tells Lily that he has been afraid to touch her, afraid that his touch would remind her of Jesse. Lily tells the man she loves that he is the reason she was strong enough to live through the ordeal and they make love.
The three sisters drive the cattle into the mountains, intent on staying together for safety. On the ride Willa speaks to Ben, wondering aloud when it will all end, and wondering who the killer is. The two agree that it might be one of their men and...
