Davy’s Gun

Davy’s gun is a symbol of the Mayor’s cruelty. Because Todd did not have a rifle of his own, he took the one from the Mayor’s son, whom the Mayor had just shot to death. When Tod tried to shoot the gun for the first time, he realized Davy’s gun had no bullets in it. Before shooting Davy, the Mayor had sent Davy to fight a war with no bullets in his weapon.
