Summary
At barely nine pages long, the final part of the novel is shortest by far. It begins in the past-tense with Lisa, Uncle Mick, and Ba-ba-oo trying to decide which pine tree was the best to bring home. Ba-ba-oo sang a crude song and when Mick told his father to cut it out, Ba-ba-oo replied "'this is from the man who taught you 'Fuck the Oppressors'", suggesting that Ba-ba-oo has been watching Lisa's life from the spirit world. Father and son wrestle around in the snow and Lisa considers that they will have to keep looking for another Christmas tree, but it did not feel like a chore. The tone of this passage is nostalgic, warm and loving, evoking the tone that Robinson established in part one of the novel. When Lisa asked Mick "why…[he] stayed away...
