Summary
Maya flew to see her mother when she got word that she was in the hospital. She had lung cancer and emphysema. She had three months to live. Maya took Vivian home with her to North Carolina where she could tend to her. Maya redecorated a room for Vivian. When she arrived escorted by Bailey’s daughter, Rosa, she didn’t have enough energy to walk inside. The taxi driver carried her in. Vivian was checked into a hospital the next day where local doctors could assess her condition. After their exam, they put her on radiation therapy.
