Summary

Maya was in Stockholm while a screenplay she had written was being shot. She was also writing the music for the movie. It was about an African American nightclub singer who was a big star in Europe. The experience compelled Maya to think about directing a film. Maya had agreed to braid the star’s hair each morning because the Swedish beauticians didn’t know how to make cornrows. In the fourth week, the star asked the director to ban Maya from the set. She made her nervous. Maya was told that she could only come on the set in the morning to braid the star’s hair.
