Molloy
The narrator of the first chapter, Molloy is the main protagonist of the novel - the first part is from his perspective, and the second part is about Moran's mission to find him. Everything the reader knows about Molloy comes from his own section: he describes himself as old and relies on crutches to walk due to a bad leg, though he claims he has even more "weak point," - physical infirmities that are impacting his health. The only information about Molloy that Moran provides is that he has a mother "Mollose," and lives in the fictional town of Ballyba.
Molloy has a wandering, aimless disposition; despite the fact that his purpose throughout his narrative is to find his mother (who may or may not be dead), he consistently forgets this aim, and instead moves throughout the world in a meandering way. He struggles to understand the world...
