Chapters 31-35 Summary and Analysis
Bram wakes in a hospital, surrounded by other wounded men. Bram makes his way to Modoc and takes over her care, making sure she is alright. Mr. North approaches and speaks to Bram, declaring his hatred for the young man who has cost him money and time by stealing his elephant. Bram is shocked as North declares the tales Bram has told lies, but plans on using the tale of Modoc saving those from the shipwreck for marketing. North tells him that he will be going to America with them and working for him with Modoc. The man tells Bram that if he does not do what is asked of him, he will never see Mo again.
